Good place to go for walk on the weekend morning. You can find some good deals. A lot of selection of shops. You just have to have a good eye.

This time around we got there late about 1 and things were closing up and the winds were blowing but overall this place is generally really good to find anything

Glad the swap meet is back. Going to take time for it to get back to full speed, but I'll be going every Saturday.

This is my honest review on this swapmeet, coming from someone who lives in the area, and has been a customer and vendor here as well. From a customer point of view, it isn?t too bad, there?s a good variety of vendors, there?s somewhat of a snack bar, but the restrooms are portables (so not very accommodating or comfortable). As a vendor, I would reconsider renting a space here because the sign-up process is oddly organized, and the Maclin Market staff is not the best. In order to get a spot, you need to arrive early morning around 6-6:30am or so, put your name on a numbered list which will then be used in a raffle-like system, and a list of numbers are randomly chosen/created, which the market workers then go down 1 by 1 to call people up to pay for their space. This part of the process is very slow, and depending where you fall on this list (that?s if you are chosen), you may not be able to actually get inside to start setting up until 7-7:30am, but keep in mind customers come in by 7:30am. There are certain vendors who have already been there for years, and are allowed to bypass the morning sign-up, which is a bit discouraging to the rest of the vendors to be put in a race against the clock to get everything set up in time for customers to start coming in (during Summer most customer foot traffic comes early morning to avoid the heat). As far as the vendors, most are very friendly, but the actual Maclin Market staff needs major conflict resolution and basic customer service training. I had the worst experience dealing with a particular older lady who sells plants here, and apparently has for some time. To make a long story short, she was being very rude and went to the extent of trying to lie saying I damaged her car, standing in my vendor space behind where I was sitting, making comments, threatening to press charges, record me, etc. This escalated to the point she thought she would get away with it because she had a Maclin Market worker (someone with Locs sunglasses) come over and basically try to shut me up telling me ?shh shh? as if he was talking to a dog, while allowing her to continue saying disrespectful things to me. This worker is apparently someone who tends to favor her in the problematic situations she tends to cause (according to other vendors who are regularly here). As more staff members got involved, they only made the situation worse because the woman began crying wolf making further accusations and false claims against me (which they believed) and the focus of the issue continued being me and how I ?should calm down?. Essentially, this was a situation where the staff (all Hispanic) wanted to side with an elder Hispanic woman completely disregarding her behavior to begin with. I guess this is the culture here and as a Hispanic myself, it is frustrating to see that there is no sense of socially acceptable morale, respect, or integrity. It?s okay to support one another, but enabling erratic behavior is never okay. It wasn?t until a Caucasian woman in management was brought in (thankfully the savior of the day) because it was then that I was able to get my full side of the story out, and witnesses were asked and confirmed the woman was lying. Thank you to this woman who gave me the time of day today (I didn?t get her name). This, on top of everything else, solidifies my decision to never return here as a customer or vendor, nor refer any of my vendor friends here to do business. Maclin Air Markets, PLEASE train your staff (especially the man with Locs sunglasses) on the importance of properly de-escalating situations and most importantly, maintaining ethical standards. I felt so disrespected and discriminated against and as a paying vendor, I do not believe favoritism should be tolerated in any way. There is absolutely no reason why I should?ve been treated this way when I was being provoked and harassed by another vendor, and then made to look like the crazy one for speaking up and defending myself as a result of this harassment.
